TGIF

Finally (almost) completed quilt for co-worker who was diagnosed with cancer. I still need to put the binding on and I've been dragging my feet about doing it. Sadly, she lost the fight. The type of cancer she had was rare -- only 11 people in the USA have it. Once diagnosed she was gone in about three weeks. The original design in Electric Quilt had to be modified so I could add some speed to ge tit done. Frankly, I got tired of paper piecing. I friend put it on her long arm for the quilting.

Well my life as a blogger going pretty slow :) I don't find much "me" time with a 16 month-old running about the house. Today I'm trying to organize my sewing room which used to be the family dining room. Since we hadn't used it since my parents came to visit when my son was born, I figured it was high time to put it to use.

I finally finished the cancer quilt for a co-worker. I started working on it about a week after her diagnosis. Well, she didn't wait around for it. She died a month after her diagnosis. I laid the blocks out at work for everyone to sign them. Although, I still needed to bind the quilt, I took it to work so everyone could see it. When I went back into the office to see the the quilt "traffic" to my horror I saw tha t someone had tacked the quilt to the wall. Oh well, to the non quilters I guess they saw no problem with that. The posted picture is my EQ design, but once I started sewing I altered the design to speed up the piecing.

I went to JoAnn's yesterday and bought some art craft plastic storage boxes to put all my orphan blocks and UFO's in.

I've printed out my quilt design from Electric Quilt. My best friend asked me to make quilts for her sons a year ago. It took me a while to get inspiration for the design. Then I had to gather the fabric. I managed to find UNC fabric and I'll go to Wal-Mart in the next week to get coordinates.
